Due to the Corona virus threat, the LiNC Board has taken the decision to cancel all gatherings and events at the Nordic Church and Community Centre, with immediate effect till further notice.
This decision was not made lightly, but, in the light of the reality of the center’s ability to fulfill the recommendations and guidelines laid out by various government and local community health specialist guidelines, it was felt best to close the church and cancel gatherings in order to safeguard both the voluntary personnel as well as the visiting public, many of whom fall in the vulnerable category.
All events are hence cancelled or postponed till future notice.
This includes Wednesday coffee morning, language schools, the Film Club evenings and Church services as well as other gatherings.
Stay well, stay safe. See you all before long in happier circumstances.
Dear all,
We are awaiting the government’s decisions of opening up society on 21 June.
Meanwhile there can only be 30 people present in a church building at the moment, so we await new regulations allowing us having more activities in the church. Please phone 07570853314 to ‘book a seat’ for Sunday services for now.
We are looking for volunteers to help us out with serving and cleaning at coffee mornings, film nights, craft groups, etc, please contact above number if you can help in any way.
Welcome back soon to the Gustaf Adolf Nordic Church at Park Lane!
Roger Metcalf, LiNC and Stan Royden, GANC
We launched a Christmas and New Year Appeal in December to help replace the funds we have lost as a result of the closure of the church due to the pandemic. We very much thank those that have generously sent donations to us.
All donations are very much welcome to help pay for the standing bills for the church building, gas, electricity, insurance, etc.
We do hope there is an end to the current circumstances so that the church’s activities can start up again and we can all meet up with friends again.
Here are the bank details if you want to add to our donations:
HSBC Bank plc Sort code 40-29-08
Account Number 04 03 99 63
Account Name Liverpool International Nordic Community
We thank you for any generous donation you can make
If you have not signed a Gift Aid form with us before but you can do so now, please contact us regarding this.

The Swedish learners’ conversation group meets each Thursday evening at seven
o’clock, on-line during the pandemic but in the church during normal times.
New members who can already speak some Swedish are welcome to join us.
For others who wish to start learning the language we can recommend effective
self-teaching materials, and when numbers are sufficient we can help beginners
to form a new mutual support group at the church – or on-line if the pandemic
continues.
Please contact m.farnworth@btinternet.com for more information

ON 17 May there will be a wreath-laying at the Norwegian Memorial at Pier Head at 11 am.
No further events, unfortunately, the kitchen at the Nordic Church is being refurbished and is unlikely to be up and running again before 17 May,
It is expected that many of those who turn up for the event at Pier Head will find somewhere to socialize afterwards.
